San Francisco is one of the first places I lived in California. The Richmond District, Upper Market, Russian Hill. At the time I worked in the Financial District and carried an old pre-war Leica with me. Using it as a kind of sketchbook I documented the local architecture and created paintings from the photos. For "Dawn, Upper Market", I just looked out my front window.
